Members of the U.S. military walk down a street near the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York City. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the New York National Guard, FEMA and civilian staff transformed the convention center into a temporary overflow hospital to treat more than 2,000 patients. The makeshift hospital has been in use since Monday, March 30. It was first designed to treat non-COVID-19 patients. But on Thursday, April 2, the U.S. President Donald Trump, approved the request of NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo to use the convention center to treat COVID-19 patients.
